Like any proud Mum I love telling people what 'the kids' have been up to. This blog is a great way to share my family news!

Jayjay Returns to her Favourite Watering Hole
Jayjay does have her own cute water bowl in the kitchen but she still prefers to drink elsewhere! When I am trying to heat up the house during the chill of winter, if she demands entrance to the bathroom, I quickly let her in, slightly turn on the tap, then shut the door to keep the warmth in the rest of the house. The only problem is that I am a bad mum and sometimes manage to get distracted, so do not return to let her out for a little while. Luckily Jayjay never seems overly upset about this, as if one is to be locked up for a time, it might as well be in a favourite room with all the facilities!

Back to Jerry Springer
This was the first cat I ever had with a special affinity for the toilet, so here he is in His room! He received his full name because his tail had a tight curl at the end like a spring. Also, when he first came home when about four months old, he did not so much run all over the place as spring about. Jerry was a cute and charming little guy, and somehow he even managed to win the heart of a friend of mine who absolutely detests cats! Jerry was reprieved from the RSPCA after Vicky's demise and lived with me for three fun filled years until he disappeared one February night and made way for Jayjay.

Cats Around the World Are Getting in on the Act!
Ginger lives in Austria with my friend Andrea and her other furry housemate Bobby. I believe Bobby is too genteel to get up to such behaviour. Besides, his name starts with a much Better Behaved letter...

Does Toilet Draining Run in the Family?
Meet my previous cat Jerry...
Like Jayjay, he was somewhat into the water sports. However, Jerry was a connoisseur, specialising in the toilet medium! You could not see it in my previous post, but this framed photo is on the window ledge above the cistern. None of my previous cats have had such a water affinity as Jerry and Jayjay so it seems I must avoid the letter 'J' when naming future kitties! Morrie shows no sign of competing in this area. I shall tell you more about this little guy, his full name being Jerry Springer, later...

Laundry Rules for Kitty Cats
As if the other rooms in the house that have taps are not enough...
You can see the total amount of ecstatic attention Jayjay is applying to the one that is in my laundry. Pity she does not do the washing while communing with her Water God...

Jayjay Admires the Water Feature in my Bathroom
Water is water as far as Jayjay is concerned, as long as it is coming from a tap. However, she does prefer a softer cascade to a solid gush.
You can see the mesmerised interest she has in the water flow. Jayjay likes the bathroom tap best as there is plenty of room to comfortably sit and admire the water issuing from the faucet with its flutter of tantalising movement plus a ripple of intoxicating sound. Upon her request I sometimes turn the tap on for a short while so she can tap at the flow with her paw, investigate closer with her nose or just revel in the experience with her entire self. Maybe my Jayjay was a catfish in her past life!

Jayjay the Kitchen Helper
Too much attention has been given to Morrie lately, so I had better return to my Jayjay before she gets to feel too neglected...
She has always been fascinated by water, and will happily send ages amusing herself with a dripping tap. As well as patting at the drops she often has a drink also. In fact, she prefers to drink from a tap than a bowl. Of course I do not leave taps constantly dripping just for her enjoyment, but when she asks me to do so I turn one on slightly for her. Now all I have to do is train her to wash the dishes while she is there! You might notice a small picture on the window ledge of a cat with similar colouring to Jayjay. Beside the picture is a small saying: "Together is the best place to be". How true!

My Quiet Kids
Here are Jayjay and Morrie enjoying a companionable cat nap on my sofa. I was quite surprised to see them there like this, but pleasantly surprised, you can be sure! I guess they have settled in reasonably well, considering that getting two older cats to accept each other can be quite difficult.
Neither of the cats stirred in the slightest while I was taking their photo. Incidentally, the pillow between them is a fine tapestry cushion cover I bought when in Belgium. Under the picture of the cat on the chair are the words 'noblesse oblige'.

My Toy Boy
While settling in, Morrie spent a lot of time in our bedroom. One day I sold this cute puppy dog nursery toy on an internet auction site, and while I was getting it ready to post to Tasmania, of course Morrie had to investigate.
By the look on his face, Morrie possibly thought he had been replaced with a quieter alternative! He is much more vocal than Jayjay, although nowhere near as talkative as the eastern cat breeds eastern cat breeds can be.

What or Who is This...???!!!
Jayjay has not been a happy girl of late. She has a 'brother' now... Who is this annoyingly mysterious being who has invaded HER house but is welcome by Mum...?

Here is my girl
You have seen her portrait. Now see the model! Jayjay has quite an appealing face. There is a distinctive dark mark on her nose. It can not be seen in this photo, but she also has a larger dark smudge under her chin. Sometimes I see her and think she has been rubbing under an oily car! Although she has a lot of it, her white fur is mainly on her underside. So if she hunkers down, she can not be easily seen, especially if I am wandering through the dark house at night. I have had to tell her that if she must get under my feet, at least she could lie on her back so I have a chance of seeing her!
From this photo taken by my front door, my Jayjay has gone onto a Christmas card in the exclusive 'Cats by Margaret' range! I shall show it to you closer to that time of year...

Jayjay
Seeing as she is my title kitty of my little blog, I guess I should mention her first. Jayjay. She is a calico cat, about eight years old now, reprieved seven years ago from the Animal Welfare League. I have used her portrait as my blog picture. Do you think it is true pets take after their owners? I do! Jayjay is the Purrfect example. She is quite chubby. She is somewhat silly. But by gosh she is pretty!
